Kenya

I monitored the campaign environment, electoral preparations, and the conduct of the 2017 general election across six counties in Kenya, assessing the process in light of international standards for democratic elections.

Yangon, Myanmar

As a staff writer and editor for a reputed Myanmar-based news outlet, I produced English language stories covering politics, conflict, business, and culture—in Myanmar and across Southeast Asia—that appealed to both a domestic and international readership.

Myanmar

I conducted fieldwork and analysed the political and security environment across Myanmar. I consulted with political party and civil society leaders, non-state armed groups, and government officials, while filing weekly reports. I briefed the British and American diplomatic community and wrote the chapter on ‘Pre-election Political Space and the Campaign.

Afghanistan

I joined a United Nations team supervising an audit in Kabul of the disputed 2014 presidential election in Afghanistan.

Nepal

I conducted fieldwork across Nepal, writing regular reports on political space, identity politics, youth mobilisation, and voter registration. I evaluated field data and drafted sections of a public report on Local Governance in Nepal. I also implemented the Carter Center’s observation mission in the Eastern region of Nepal, assessing electoral.

Sri Lanka

I covered cultural events in Colombo, interviewed prominent creative figures and reviewed books for one of Sri Lanka’s leading English language newspapers.

Kathmandu, Nepal

I analysed political and social trends, checked facts and did research on South Asia for a renowned English language current affairs magazine covering the region.
