General PartnerStepchange Nov 2023 - PresentStepchange is an early stage venture fund that invests in product-led companies that will make a step change impact on climate. Stepchange puts product leaders at the core of everything we do—from who we invest in and how we support them, to who we seek as LPs, partners, and advisors. We partner with founders at the very beginning, making investments in the first round of funding. -

Research & Development Program Manager In The Applied Science GroupMicrosoft 2008 - 2010Redmond, Washington, UsI returned full-time after the previous summer's internship. During my ~2 years I managed a couple different research projects and collaborated on 2-3 others. My initial focus was on extending the work from the previous summer and exploring future businesses for Microsoft Hardware. A product unit with 20 or so people was built out relating to these concepts. I served as a research arm for that product unit.My second main project was a collaboration with Jay Meistrich in building out a protocol and consumer experience for controlling all of the media devices in your life. It spanned an insane number of Microsoft technologies and resulted in a very compelling vision piece.I helped college recruiting doing 4-5 trips down to Stanford for recruiting events as well as hosting a couple high-talent potential candidates in Seattle. For our own team I ran our intern recruiting process and brought in some new full-time software talent to a traditionally physics/EE heavy team.Selected for and completed "High Potential Technical Leadership Select" trainingPresented SurfaceWare research at TEI2009: http://bit.ly/surfacewarepaperBuilt the first software demos for the Pressure Sensitive Keyboard: http://bit.ly/pressuresenskeyboardFiled a 2nd patent for work on multi-touch mice -
Inventor Intern On The Applied Sciences GroupMicrosoft Jun 2007 - Sep 2007Redmond, Washington, Ushttp://www.microsoft.com/appliedsciences/My job for the summer was to build something cool. About 3 months and $50k spent later I had hacked apart (both physically and in code) a Microsoft Surface unit and prototyped a new product line for Microsoft Hardware. It ended up being cool enough that I got to demo to Bill Gates, Ray Ozzie, and everyone in between them and my manager. As a side project I worked with Paul Dietz to develop some other use cases for Microsoft Surface. We submitted a patent soon after the summer that was issued in 2009: http://bit.ly/surfacewarepatent -
Intern On The Ipod TeamApple Inc. Jun 2006 - Sep 2006Cupertino, California, UsWorked on all iPod products shipped Sept. 2006, but was primarily focused on the 2G Nano (http://bit.ly/2GNano). My team was responsible for accessory compatibility for the new release. There was a major architecture redesign in that product version and I worked with the development teams to solve a number of problematic edge cases the new design introduced. As a side summer project I built an automated testing suite that allowed testers to just 'hit go' and it would spit out an Excel result, rather than require manual log entry. I presented this to Tony Fadell (iPod VP) at the end of the summer. Most interesting part of the job: seeing what goes into pushing an Apple product out the door in the last 3 months and the chaos that ensues! -
