Ongoing development of the Internet-scale platform that powers several of Microsoft's online properties, including Bing, Office 365, Cortana, Windows Update, and OneDrive.• Negotiated with team leadership in Bellevue to create an engineering team at NERD. Worked with the engineering director to identify a unique local opportunity, proposed a team charter, and worked with Bing CVP and NERD HR to build support. Joined as the first employee and grew the team to four in the twelve months.• Established the team as a center of excellence that owns all protocols-related work for the Azure Edge, including support for SSL/TLS, SPDY/HTTP 2.0, IPv6, Websockets, and DNS.• As an individual contributor, delivered several high-value engineering projects including: Transitioned Bing to serve 100% of traffic over HTTPS; multi-tenant SSL support in schannel/fdv2 to unblock the onboarding of Windows Update, O365, and OneDrive; platform support to unblock the launch of Cortana in Windows 8.1; ported an internal L4 software load balancer to support IPv6 and Windows Server 2012 R2.

Responsible for the technical excellence and professional development of the Sustained Engineering development team for the Microsoft Desktop Optimization Pack• Scaled the team and its processes to onboard sustained engineering responsibilities for all MDOP products and handle support for multiple releases of those products with no effective increase in team headcount, while achieving 100% SLA rate for hotfixes and requests for collaboration.• Collaborated with the rest of the MDOP SE Trio to create a v-team model that allowed us to support multiple products while creating growth opportunities for a junior team. Positioned two engineers for transition to core team dev roles and coached three junior devs to promotions.• As an individual contributor, led the engineering effort to unblock virtualization of Dev10 in App-V 4.x and ported the relevant changes to App-V 5.0; championed the incorporation of quality engineering practices (practice builds, code reviews, smoke testing) from the core engineering team to the SE team; SME for Windows Update and installer tech; served as the team’s go-to expert in Windows debugging tools such as windbg and xperf.

Developer in the Sustained Engineering group for the Microsoft Application Virtualization line of products• Created a repeatable method for sequencing .NET 4.0, including engineering changes that needed to be adopted the netfx team. This unblocked virtualization of several important customer line of business apps as well as Office 2013. • Drove the effort to support virtualization of Internet Explorer 6, despite significant technical hurdles and management pushback, allowing us to retain JPMC as a customer.• Led a significant engineering effort across App-V 4.5 and 4.6 to integrate FSDK 2.6 to unblock full 64-bit support.• Worked closely with CSS, GES, and the core engineering team to deliver all assigned RFx on time and to customer satisfaction, and to push upstream changes to vnext development.
