Overcame voter suppression and intimidation efforts against Wesleyan students in the November 2011 elections, delivering record student turnout and coordinating cooperation between the newly elected Mayor and Wesleyan. Authored politically relevant campus newspaper articles, online articles and blog post, and gave interviews to various local press outlets regarding local elections and the group’s involvement. Organized campaign trainings and speaking events. Participated in other local, state and federal campaigns in 2010-2013.

Ran field operation and strategized for an incumbent mayor and 18 other municipal candidates, all of whom were elected except those ineligible due to minority-party representation laws.

Hired as a full-time employee during the summer and part-time during the semester to run a targeted re-election campaign for first-term state representative Geoff Luxenberg, D-Manchester, winning with 63% of the vote-- a six-point swing towards the Democrat from two years prior. Raised money to qualify candidate for Connecticut’s Citizens’ Elections Program, wrote and designed campaign literature and mail, ran field operation, and advised candidate on strategic matters.

Worked to broaden the organization by encouraging all Connecticut colleges to open or reopen CDCT chapters; took first steps towards forming a CDCT political action committee; introduced use of social media to connect with other College Democrats of America chapters, candidates, and elected officials; took part in legislative work, such as the governor’s initiative for education reform.
