Most people go through life clocking into and out of a job they don’t love, but pays just enough to keep them around. Several years ago that was me. I had the job I dreamed of as a child, the job I went to school for, but something was missing; fulfillment.So I went back to what I loved: engineering and track & field. I developed a speed training device for athletes. This product, the SpeedMaker, fell into the hands of a physical therapist in Michigan who tried the product on a spinal cord patient named Emily. Emily immediately saw positive results in her walking stability and endurance. After rehabbing with the SpeedMaker Emily far exceed her surgeon’s expectations by not just walking without assistance, but actually running!After this story and many others, my business partner and I decided to shift focus towards this new market and rebrand as NEWGAIT. it was at this point that I found that elusive thing every employed person is seeking: fulfillment. People were physically getting better due to something I had created. In the 3 years since my team and I have focused on NewGait the patient success stories never get old. What started off as a product to help athletes run faster has turned into a mission-driven company that gives hope to people who just want to reclaim a sense of normalcy by walking independently.
