My passion is to help companies balance data innovation with consumer privacy. I provide fractional Privacy Officer, Data Protection Officer, privacy/product counsel and advertising/marketing counsel services. Before you look below and see what appears to be a messy list of work profiles, here’s the method to my current professional madness. * Corporate: I really like ‘in-house’ privacy work, and have been supporting Uber part-time for 6+years, in no small part because of their great privacy team and scope of unique marketing-related privacy work. * Adtech/Martech: Lucid Privacy has built a reputation as the ‘go-to’ privacy consulting and DPO ‘as a service’ shop for bleeding-edge adtech companies. * Startups: As a former tech company founder, I have a soft spot in my heart for startups so offer discounted rates to early-stage businesses. I'm also 'Of Counsel' to a few SF/Bay Area law firms servicing startups. * Non-Profit: Raising the Floor. Because I have to do something good with my spare time. * A roster of misc tech clients to keep me on my toes with a special interest in Crypto and IoT. My prior in-house roles include 10+ years leading Experian's global digital privacy and compliance efforts, including for CheetahMail, Hitwise, Digital Advertising Solutions, and many other product lines across their global portfolio. I also founded an IoT company that developed the first push notification filtering app that worked in conjunction with a proprietary wearable platform (Sold to a Berkshire Hathaway portfolio company.) In what seems like a past life (Internet 1.0), I led the world's largest interactive marketing association where we authored seminal self-regulatory guidelines on permission-based email, mobile marketing, and addressable advertising. I'm a quick learner with new technologies, and welcome the opportunity to engage in opportunities outside my core expertise.
