Worked part-time as a Student Assistant on Design Team II Branch B in San Luis Obispo. In a learning capacity, assisted with roadway and/or roadside analysis and drafting plans, performing engineering calculations to determine roadway and roadside quantities, and providing checks for previously calculated quantities. Student Assistants utilize computer programs such as Microsoft Excel, Microstation, Civil3D, and ArcGIS.Caltrans manages more than 50,000 miles of California’s highway and freeway lanes, provides inter-city rail services, permits more than 400 public-use airports and special-use hospital heliports, and works with local agencies. Worked as both an Office and Field Engineer on the SFO Terminal 1 Redevelopment Project.Office Engineering Interns work directly with the Project Engineer or Project Manager with the primary objective of supporting the field through effective materials management. Primary responsibilities include processing of submittals and shop drawings and tracking/expediting material deliveries.Field Engineering Interns are trained in how to build projects in the field and aid the Superintendent in field management. The Field Engineering Intern is responsible for the majority of the layout on the project as well as lift drawings and safety and quality control responsibilities.
