Maintaining and developing the Action for Children technical and information infrastructure. As well as being responsible for key infrastructure and security, I was the technical lead on a number of significant infrastructure projects:- Design and deployment of a 60 seat VMware View 4.5 Pilot and subsequent upgrade to View 5.0 upon going live- Transition from Exchange 2003 to Exchange 2010 for 8,000 mailboxes, which involved 6 months co-existence- Increasing virtualisation of systems from 50% to 90%- Implementation of blade architecture and managing the migration away from rack mounted servers to consolidate existing setup- Rebuilding vSphere ESX 3.5 cluster to ESXi 4.1u1 and subsequent update to vSphere 5.0- Working as part of a team to provide infrastructure for a SharePoint 2010 implementation using VMware and NetApp- Design and implementation of a SQL 2008 R2 cluster running on NetApp SAN storage- Technical consultant for Change Programme, which implemented ITIL Change Management to the organisation.

Whilst providing 3rd line escalation I was primarily a technical lead on a major data centre relocation project, which involved:- The design and creation of two new data centres- Physical relocation of 100+ servers- The implementation of Xsigo as a core switching solution to work alongside existing Cisco infrastructure- Configuration of an entire Lights Out solution using HP SIM and iLO- The design and implementation of a new Active Directory topology spanning multiple sitesI also designed and implemented a Symantec Endpoint solution to allow the upgrade from Symantec 8.1 to 11.Other tasks:- Handling business as usual support calls escalated by the Service Desk- Acting as technical lead in major systems and infrastructure projects to deliver business needs - Working closely with third party suppliers and support to resolve complex problems- Working within Problem Management to find the root cause of one or more incidents where the solution is not known- Maintaining a professional relationship with others teams and the business- Proactively monitoring systems to ensure continual service and developing solutions to improve capability, capacity and availability of systems- Maintaining accurate records and documentation of Action for Children systems

- Managing relationships with suppliers in the delivery of IT services- Investigating and resolving underlying problems to the IT systems and maintaining the known error database- Working with other teams to manage problems as defined by the ITIL framework- Acting as a point of escalation for more complex incidents- Involved in the installation, implementation and testing of Exchange 2007, Office 2007, Live Communications Server and Windows Server 2008 as part of a collaborative working pilot.- Installed and configured server running Debian Linux and Censornet web proxy/filtering software- Technical Lead for Lifecycle Solution development and implementation to create a workstation image that auto installs to the network using sysprep etc

- Working as part of a team to provide reactive IT support to a user base of 5,500- Logging and responding to calls using Remedy Help Desk Call Management System

- Providing reactive and proactive IT support to multiple Small to Medium Enterprise clients in the Nelson/Tasman region as governed by Service Level Agreements- Solving issues with desktop and server technologies such as Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows Server 2000/2003, Microsoft Exchange, Microsoft ISA 2000/2004, Microsoft SQL Server 2000/2005, VMWare Server, MailMarshal, WebMarshal, Active Directory, DNS, DHCP and routers/switches- Configuration of the above products and technologies- Assisting with the design, implementation and deployment of networks and servers for Small to Medium Enterprise clients- Dealing with clients over the phone and face to face on a daily basis- Worked as project lead for the implementation of a VMware ESX based system for a medium sized insurance company running an SBS 2003 server and a SQL 2005 Server. This involved the migration of data and mail from a Novel based network running GroupWise.- Provided desktop support cover for Nelson City Council, which involved supporting 1,000+ users in a Microsoft Windows/Office environment utilising a Hummingbird Document Management System.- Became the site lead for a number of clients, which meant acting as the point of contact for any IT related queries.
