What to say and how to say it. That pretty much sums up my job description in Public Affairs at Funk & Bolton. Of course, it’s a bit more complicated in terms of actual execution, experience, and expertise. As an attorney and public affairs professional who’s spent years in the trenches of politics and policy, I’ve worked with corporate, non-profit, government, and political clients on issues and campaigns across sectors and situations. My role as part of the Public Affairs team is to help my clients tell their stories effectively, with authenticity and precision, in an ever-changing media environment. I use carefully crafted and targeted messaging built on a strategic, objective-driven foundation. I love using my unique blend of campaign, communications, and policy expertise to find solutions others do not and take deep satisfaction in the challenge of breaking a complex problem down to its parts. Clients look to me to figure things out and then to take them from insight to implementation. Over the years, I’ve developed a reputation for doing that in an honest, forthright way; I’m committed to using my strategic skills and creativity as effectively as I can to tell my clients’ stories. Often that culminates in the world of media production, where I’ve become the go-to guy on the team for converting a message to a ready-for-air product that exceeds expectations. After undergrad, I spent some time in what was then a newly emerging solar market, just as it was moving to the mainstream. That growth was driven by government incentives and seeing the direct correlation between policy making and actionable change inspired me to go to law school. Ever since, it’s mattered to me to do work that matters. I’ve completed two marathons and two cycling centuries and enjoy spending time outdoors, playing music and traveling.
