Reporting to Divisional General Manager, Ben’s primary responsibility was managing the development and application of the divisional business strategy, comprising both container terminals and land-side logistics business operations. He supported the DGM by preparing customer, media and industry position papers, submissions and presentations in support of perception management. He also was the key divisional contact for the Corporate investor relations and communications staff, and responsible for reviewing and endorsing materials ahead of release to the market. The role also evolved to include a large element of financial modelling and investment bank liaison in support of the aborted Asciano asset sale program. Critical to Ben’s success in this role was his ability to quickly learn the dynamics of the maritime shipping and logistics sector, and to build new relationships both within the business, and with customers, industry, and government stakeholders.
