Founder/Lead Engineer

Current

Baltimore, Maryland, United States

A bootstrapped robotics outfit based entirely out of a basement bedroom, Morse Dynamics is my passion project, aiming to pinpoint the ever-elusive middle ground between industrial robots priced like luxury cars, and desktop/educational models that don't cut it in the real world. While my imagination suggests 'the sky is the limit', my wallet, and the wimpy 15A circuit in my residential bedroom workshop, disagree with that.I'm aiming to leverage the recent revolution of reliable and precise 3D printing, ushered in by Bambu Lab, accompanied by clever applications of standard off-the-shelf hardware, to achieve truly decentralized production, and sustainable repairability without the responsibility of a spare parts/service network. Leading the project is a 3D-printing-optimized high reduction gearbox, using a novel internal design, entirely of my own creation. In the two years since the inception of the gearbox design, my free time has been primarily dedicated to theorizing and prototyping the best way to achieve a repairable and capable robot using my new advancement. While the company and the concept are still in their infancy, the snippets of 'behind-the-scenes' content I sporadically post on the Instagram page have garnered over 25 million views, and a buzzing community of 25 thousand followers from all cultures and walks of life. With the recent introduction of my Patreon page, the project has only just started earning it's keep. I hope, with the right momentum and motivation, that this will one day be looked at as a long, slow start of something truly special.

Fabricator

Performed the full design cycle of a grant-funded solar-powered digital connectivity bench for outdoor public use. My work made up a majority of the visual design, engineering, prototyping, and the initial setup of a larger production run. Though life got in the way of me overseeing the production run, I was very happy to see Solar Station #8 appear only a 5 minute walk from my house, only 6 months after I left. The program now boasts 14 installs, and the Baltimore 2024 Technical.ly 'Product of the Year' award.Apart from the Solar Station, I functioned as a designer, engineer, CNC programmer/operator, and/or machine service technician for over a dozen diverse projects all deeply rooted in the community of Baltimore and Station North. While here, I was able to bolster my CAD, CAM, woodworking, and metalworking skills to new, even higher levels.
