Over the past ten years, I have had the software engineering career I always dream of. Then, I decided to leave my high-paying job...When I started my studies in computer science, I quickly saw a pattern. Most of my colleagues struggled with their social skills, myself included.What could I do in my free time to earn some money and put myself in a situation where I can improve my communications skills?I decided to work as a bartender during the night and study during the day. In retrospect, this gave me precisely the skills I needed to succeed in future projects.After completing my studies, I had an obligatory Y combinator startup dream, which was bound to fail for me. So I took my chances with a company that embraced the SCRUM framework.Direct customer communication, retrospectives, and self-organizing teams, this company had it all.I quickly advanced to leading teams, where I found my passions in mentoring and training.
