As Associate Counsel, I: • Proactively analyzed risks for company officers and engineers on corporate and business-related matters related to cutting-edge technology projects, while providing easy-to-digest advice on complex legal issues;• Consulted on employment law issues, including hiring, termination, severance, and disability, while developing HR systems as the company went from small start-up through high growth;• Guided the company through its acquisition, including work with outside counsel and executives on negotiation and drafting of merger documents, and organization of an intensive due diligence process;• Drafted and negotiated complex commercial agreements, software and data licenses, and vendor contracts, while collaborating with internal stakeholders, including business teams, engineers, and management;• Protected company IP, including patent portfolio management, trademark drafting and protection, and copyright law analysis;• Organized the company immigration practice, including consultation with employees and outside counsel to obtain work visas and permanent residence for employees.

The Bronx Defenders is widely recognized as one of the top public defense organizations in the country. Through its holistic model of defense, the Bronx Defenders has helped transform how low-income people in the Bronx and nationwide are represented in the justice system. As an attorney in the criminal defense practice, I worked collaboratively with civil lawyers and advocates, immigration attorneys, social workers, and investigators to develop creative solutions for clients while handling a voluminous caseload of up to 140 clients with diverse legal issues and needs. While advocacy at BXD goes well beyond just trials, it's worth mentioning that I first-chaired numerous jury and bench trials, and hearings, obtaining numerous acquittals for our clients. I am a firm believer in and ardent practitioner of a client-centered approach, which brings an interdisciplinary team for each client and focuses on their needs, as identified by the client, as opposed to defining each client by their case.
