· Departmental placements in: Production, Research and Development, Engineering Special Projects, Inspection and Sales.· Responsible for the design, manufacture and operation of a second test rig for a new range of fan design whilst working in the research and development department.· Working closely with the stores and packaging department I designed a new method for the transportation of a particular fan type. The design enabled shipping in batches of 5 where previous methods only allowed for 3 fans per pallet. Additional shipping materials were priced, outsourced, and added to the fan's bill of materials.· Responsible for the production of engineering drawings for parts to be used in the modification of a range of fan design to achieve cost-effective improvements in rigidity.Later, the cost justification for in house production over outsourcing.· Working in the sales office enabled me to liaise with customers and produce job packs for special fan units, consisting of certificates of conformities for all the necessary parts and materials.· The production office gave me practical insights into the material and product flow around the shop floor as well as a detailed understanding of processes used at each stage of manufacture. The use of MRP systems further informed this understanding and complemented my understanding of workflow theory.· Dealing with quality issues. Determining the root cause of a problem on the shop floor. Combining computer and physical modelling and advanced measuring techniques, the problem was rectified and a new "Go/no go" gauge introduced.
