Benjamin Barbour (proudly taking his place in the B.B. lineage, from Bardot and Brecht) graduated in 2008 from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro with B.A. degrees in both English and Film & Television Production. He is currently in the Film/Cinema dual-degree (MFA in Film & Television and MA in Cinema Studies) program at Savannah College of Art and Design. As a film student, Benjamin’s focus lies in directing and editing. As a cinema studies student, he specializes in the study of horror films, particularly the Italian giallo. His graduate thesis film MARCO/POLO is currently in production. Ultimately, he would like to work as a professor, critic, theorist, and film director.Field Experience & Technical Strengths:• Produced, wrote, directed, and edited numerous short film & TV projects of various genre• On set experience, utilizing a wide array of professional film equipment • Competent in Final Cut, Avid, Pro Tools, Soundbooth, Photoshop, and Microsoft Office Suite• Trained in the use of DSLR cameras (including the Canon & Sony Series) and Green Screen/Chroma Key• Freelance experience, creating instructional, memorial, and wedding videos• Served as temporary production assistant to the locations manager on The Key Man, an independent film starring Brian Cox and Carol Kane• Maintained good rapport with cast/crew while creating spots aired on UNCG’s Spartan Television• Extensive knowledge of (and passion for) film history & theory, feminist theory & psychoanalysis, modernist technique & the French New Wave
