My responsibility is to make sure that the customers are greeted when they come into the store giving them the best customer service I can give. To facilitate this I must know all about the products we hold, together with what their ingredients are, to give the customer accurate information assisting them with their purchase. This is challenging as we receive new products very frequently.My position as consultant is both challenging and rewarding. It is challenging because every customer is different with different needs. My task is to make sure they make the correct decision for them and leave the store with the product that will fulfil their needs. It is rewarding because when I am able to assist them make a decision upon a purchase, I engage with them and enjoy the results I offer them a personal service which results in my seeing the same customer time and again.

In my current jobs I come in constant contact with people from all walks of life every day. I love to interact with people, make them feel welcome, perhaps even make them smile whilst giving them advice regarding the dishes we have on offer and what those dishes contain, as the specific dish which is of interest, may contain an ingredient which the customer is allergic to or simply doesn’t like. I go to work early so I am able to speak to the chef to go through the menu with him, as it is very important for me to know what is on the menu each day, how it’s cooked and what it contains. The customers really appreciate this and as a result many ask for me while booking their tables for when they come back. On occasion dealing with clients who are difficult or unfortunately just plain antisocial, is also part of the job. We often get some young students, due to the location of the premises, who shout and scream and make a big racket, which disturbs the other patrons. On the whole they do calm down when they are approached and asked to keep the noise down as they are disturbing other clients. I try to be ‘outstanding’ in everything I do in my professional life, it’s something I do without thinking I try to treat everyone in the way I would wish to be treated under the same circumstances.
