Benjamin Bellegy is the Executive Director at WINGS, a global network of 220+ organisations supporting and developing philanthropy and giving in 60 countries. Together, WINGS members support and provide leadership to nearly 100,000 philanthropic entities worldwide.Benjamin is a values-driven leader, passionate about collaboration and working across silos toward transformation. He is an active advocate for the philanthropy field to address the existential threats humanity is facing and invites it to 'transform itself to become transformative'.Since late 2016, he is successfully leading the WINGS network in new directions with a new strategy and brand, a growing and more diverse membership, and pioneering new approaches to unlocking philanthropy's potential for social change globally. This includes innovative philanthropy movement-building such as the global #PhilanthropyForClimate initiative, as well as developing, for the first time, the sector's voice to engage in dialogue and advocacy at the global level on policy issues affecting the field. He also provides thought leadership on the importance of philanthropy ecosystems for strong and locally-led civil societies and social change.An enthusiastic bridge-builder and creative thinker, Benjamin, pioneered an ecosystems thinking approach to growing philanthropy's reach and impact and established groundbreaking partnerships with the European Union, USAID, and several major global philanthropies including Ford and MacKenzie Scott. He is a regular speaker at international events (Aspen Institute, Stanford PACS, AVPN, Philea, etc.) and a contributor to Alliance Magazine.Benjamin previously led international grantmaking programmes in a variety of fields such as local civil societies’ strengthening, sustainable development and post-disaster reconstruction. Before WINGS, he managed international programmes at Fondation de France - the main French philanthropic institution - where he launched and led several pooled funds and collaborations with other foundations and supported philanthropy development in the Global South. As part of his mission, he oversaw the foundation's €35 million post-earthquake programme in Haiti.He previously worked for the International Cooperation Agency of Monaco and for several NGOs in Canada, Ethiopia and Tunisia.He earned a political sciences diploma and a master’s degree in non-profit management from the Institut d’Etudes Politiques of Grenoble, and a master's degree in communication and information sciences from the Stendhal University of Grenoble.
