For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology (FIRST) is a non-profit charity whose mission is to inspire young people to be science and technology leaders, by engaging them in exciting mentor-based programs that build science, engineering and technology skills, that inspire innovation, and that foster well-rounded life capabilities including self-confidence, communication, and leadership.As a mechanical design mentor, I have the opportunity to work with high school students to design, build, program and test 150 lb mobile robots with a tight 6 week deadline. Annually, our team produces world class robots that rival machines sponsored by companies such as NASA, Lockheed Martin, and Boeing. Our success is proven through 15 regional wins in the past 6 years as well as two world finalist finishes in 2010 & 2014 and two world semi-finalist finishes in 2012 & 2015.

MedAvail Technologies Inc. (formerly PharmaTrust) is a healthcare technology company commercializing a self-service kiosk solution, the MedAvail MedCenter™, supporting the dispensing of prescription drugs and Over-The-Counter medications. The MedAvail Medcenter™ can be deployed in remote sites such as employer locations, clinics, hospitals and retail locations.After competing the 3rd year of my university degree, I was exposed to several projects at PharmaTrust over the course of a 16 month internship as an Assistant Design Engineer. I created and executed several tests to evaluate design feasibility and reliability. After analyzing these test results, I reported design improvement recommendations to the engineering team. Often I was tasked with implementing these improvements, which involved significant exposure to SolidWorks sheet metal design. To assist with analyzing test results and managing the companies CAD files, I developed several Excel and SolidWorks macros. I independently designed and tested an early iteration of the kiosks thermal control system. While completing these tasks, I also developed and maintained a RoHS compliance program which outlined the responsibilities of all parties within the company through standard operating procedures.
