I’m currently employed at Schneider Electric in their FP&A group as a Project Manager. My current projects are focused on improving P&L quality, increasing speed of close, training financial staff and improving overall finance efficiency. To improve the quality of the P&Ls, I developed a method to reconcile inter-company margin flows. This is a process that is unique to Schneider Electric and difficult for new financial staff members to grasp. To help the finance staff understand the process, I’ve developed and provided in person training classes designed to review the strategies and details of the process. Due to my success with the classes, I was asked to build a financial training website. The website’s intent is to provide summary level training on financial subjects via self-made videos and power-point decks created by the staff’s subject matter experts. Before being asked to become a Project Manager, I served as FP&A Controller responsible for supporting two business unit controllers and analyzing their actual results. The processes I developed became the standard for other analyst to follow with their business units. The majority of my tenure at Schneider Electric I served as a plant and product line controller. In these roles I completed forecast for sales and the P&L, worked with sales and marketing teams to develop strategies to increase top-line volume and margins. I developed and implemented a strategy to convert the Dayton Plant ERP and processes to the core systems of Schneider Electric. I improved the facilities internal controls, inventory results and productivity.I’m passionate in my role because I like simplifying processes, explaining financial results to business owners and transferring my knowledge to my peers to assist them in their responsibilities.
