01/06/12 - 15/12/13My quality role in BMW MINI is as a PPZ Prüf Planner for New Mini,New Club man & New Convertible. I ensure the quality objectives in the early build phases, with the influence of quality costs of equipment and staff. This includes the planning of the quality management system (PPZ), with the creation of new inspection stations/ ultrasonic inspection points. We plan, prepare and review concept and definition of testing times, cycles and places throughout the project and project requirements, which is in accordance with legal/ product requirements and production costs.I create and maintain the PC-overview of test stations, testing personnel and testing time for the whole body, including the configuration of the test system, introducing the Q-systems (IPS-Q-PPZ). I supervise the ultrasonic associates on site, with training and qualification examinations, ensuring that they are able to deal with any problems and uncertainties. I create, coordinate and implement quality management documents (MPM process sheets) following the creation of the project. This role involves some evaluation, including supporting to test planning and balancing the ultrasonic testing with other methods, including the destructive testing. I monitor all test and inspection processes, which depending on the results, optimise and correct test cycles and test characteristics in the current series. This depends on the actually frequency of errors in the series, which influences the cost of testing as a result.I also create automated telegrams via PLC's to ensure no failures leave the building.Using Catia V5 I populated PPZ with all Spot weld,Sealer,Studs,Best fit & DC tooling. PPZ Roles (PPZ is a BMW System controlling rework on every body)I was part of the team that help introduce Auto Bolt on track 17 million projectPPZ Champion for Oxford.
  • B.M.W. Group Plant Oxford Biw To
    Quality Specialist
B.M.W. Group Plant Oxford Biw To Jun 2002 - Jan 2012
I was given 2 week Course on Lean Engineering £3000 per person for the PSP role.Introduction of jigs on finish tracks, achievement of gap & profile RFT, ergonomic criteria for operators and develop processes to ensure the above within cycle time. Responsible for liaison with framing & underbody technology areas to understand there constraints and propose possible solutions. Analysis included looking at FMK chains and CMM data. The criterion of the jigs functioning correctly was achieved by changing the concept jig to body, positions of buttons and optimising process. Communicating to all production levels within the VPS criteria. Plant Oxford BIW QZ audit issues are in the green.R56 tailgate jig Analysis & optimisation carried out before the correct quality was delivered. After demonstrating the jig did not deliver the CP & CPK target, it was noted that there was no method to hold the hinges. Liaising with the design house Rummler, a jig was designed & manufactured. V-star exercise was conducted demonstrating a CP & CPK of 1.33. R52 trunklid JigConcept delivered as part of a complex team. Analysis carried out on original concept demonstrated that regardless of the jig, the hinging concept target CP & CPK could not be achieved. The cost effective solution was to have a finesse associate to achieve the required quality. A process was generated and finesse associates on tracks trained, this reduced BIW impact on warranty issues seen at the time.
  • B.M.W. Group Body Engineering
    Project Engineer
    B.M.W. Group Body Engineering Jul 1999 - Jun 2002
Conducted a large and varied amount of dynamic testing on the R50, which in turn helped to lower the QZ warranty issues & piece cost. Window Endurance - Created special test parts to prove viability of cost down proposal (A saving of 1.7 euro per car).Designed, developed and manufactured new window endurance rigs, along with a new template report. This reduced the time taken for a window endurance test to be set up, as well as the time taken to conduct the test itself. Overall this saved the department valuable man-hours and money was saved by the manufacture of new rigs, which are more cost effective and more reliable than those used. (Carried out as part of H.N.C. Project)
