After a successful industrial placement year at GlaxoSmithKline I returned to the company as a contractor, working for the newly-formed Immersive Intelligent Manufacturing (IIM) team.As an IIM team member, I have been working on a computer vision research project that makes use of the Microsoft Kinect. I have been responsible for selecting hardware, investigating techniques for image processing, designing and implementing a full WPF C# .NET solution. The application has played a major role in many executive-level demonstrations.Having concluded the research and development phase of the project, I will use the coming months to fully industrialise the application into a commercially viable product.

Having achieved my Grade 8 with Distinction Piano qualification, I spent two years employed as the paid accompanist for a local choir. I was responsible for teaching the music, accompanying and performing individually. I particularly enjoyed the opportunity to perform with our choir at a residential care home for people suffering with mental health I developed communicative skills by interacting with people of all age groups to ensure that the choir was ready to perform at the next concert. I also established team skills by working with the Choir Master to ensure that each person in the choir knew their roles and spending extra time after rehearsals with members that were not as confident. I developed my ability to learn quickly since each week I was provided with a previously unseen piece of music which I then helped the choir to learn.

I spent three months working on a new A-Level Mechanics Book, being written by Mrs Linda Bostock to benefit international students.My role consisted of ensuring that the exercises were detailed enough for them to be solvable and to ensure that the solutions provided were correct. I managed to identify many questions in the book which contained insufficient levels of detail to be solved or had ambiguous wording.
