I am the primary undergraduate researcher on a project looking at the prevalence of work-related and academic burnout among collegiate EMS providers. I directly manage a cohort of three research assistants and have lead topic selection, a background literature review, the development of valid/reliable scales and burnout indexes, and the preparation of a full IRB protocol. In addition to learning about burnout, the IRB process, informed consent, and the like, I have a profound appreciation for scientific inquiry and a belief in my ability to go out into the world to find the answers to my questions.
