Hands-on Design Engineer - prefer to know “both sides” of how things are made. I work with people in the shop and can assist in building new products as well as improving current ones. I believe people can design better if they know how to build it.DESIGN/PROCESS PROFICIENCY Sheet Metal design – Various sheet metal practices and materials. Controls boxes, brackets, housings, frames, doors, garbage truck bodies, bulkhead fitting brackets, bent and rolled components, sheet metal components that “fit” using tongue/groove concepts for repeat-ability and reduction in fixtures. Experience with different processes to cut sheet metal and their varying accuracy and precision. Laser tables, 3D laser, plasma table, water-jet, torch, turret punch, etc. CNC programming experience in flat metal processing. CNC machined design/programming –Milled and turned (w/live tooling) parts. Slips and fits of varying precision. Linkages for mechanisms, cylinder rods and casings, pillow blocks, engine mounts, brackets, sealed assemblies, machined valve assembly, tools, prototypes, fixtures. CNC mill programming experience also. Plastic design/processing – Thermoformed components, rotational molded tanks, injection molded components, blow molded container (won national award). Plastic injection molding press processing experience also.  Shop skills – Machining (lathe or mill), welding, torch cutting, fitting metal, hydraulic hosing, power tools, pneumatic tools, measuring tools. MRP/BOM/PRINT MANAGEMENT/QUALITY – Good file organization skills, knowledge of BOM creation, material costing, understanding of quality standards. Understanding of various part numbering systems. Have experience in using CAD Vault type systems for file security.
