Most recently I have been employed by Northumbria Healthcare facilities management where I have began the role as a procurement officer. I am looking forward to further develop my skills that I have already learned from my last role. In my previous experience I was employed by Sunderland Royal Hospital as a Stock Controller for the Procurement team, a position that I held for 4 years and 1 month. The main purpose of my role was to provide effective communications between wards and external suppliers to ensure that the supply of goods needed for the effective use for a ward is maintained. It is important to follow set procedures to ensure that goods are made available when needed and obtained through the NHS supply chain. Also included in my job is the control of the Materials Management Service, which ensures that when goods are purchased, value for money is taken into account. This is achieved through keeping checks on inventory levels on the wards which I am responsible for in order to maximise efficient usage and prevent fluctuating starting levels which in turn provides economies of scale. I was responsible for consistently reviewing and managing stock levels on the ward taking into account any additional stock which may be needed in the event of an emergency. This involves regular meetings with key members of staff to communicate that if any additional changes to stock levels are required; these are dealt with swiftly and efficiently and ensures the smooth running of the stock control process. All requests are dealt with either by email or telephone and are done so in a time effective manner. It was alway important to have good relationships with both the internal staff members and the external suppliers as this enables requests to be quickly processed. I constantly look for ways to reduce costs without compromising quality.
