I have been working at Brentford Community Sports Trust (BFCCST) approaching 3 years now. I have been working full time after completing my university degree 2 year ago. Having now graduated from St Mary’s with honours and taking on a lead role within a school leading sessions and creating PE curriculums within the national curriculum I am now looking to progress onto a full-time role. Having been working within BFFCST for the last 3 years I feel that I have a good awareness and understanding of the club’s ethos and goals. Coming across many different children with different backgrounds and needs and being very understanding and empathetic person that this role will suit me perfectly in order to help achieve the best outcomes for young people.I also have experience working in the education sector of BFCCST where I was one of a selection of mentors on the Brighter Futures Programme where I mainly delivered 1:1 mentoring sessions to young people referred to us from family support workers by using sport as a bridge to aid communication alongside pastoral support. These sessions would take place either onsite at their respective school where I would liaise with the schools’ pastoral support teacher and take a young person out of class for an hour a week in which we could have a conversation about anything on their mind usually whilst playing sport but occasionally just having a relaxed sit-down conversation if the young person wasn’t feeling very active. These sessions could also take place at our Sports Hub where we could also do sports if we wished or walk around the stadium concourse. Seeing the 1:1 work I have done and the impact it has had on some of the young people I have mentored feels me with great pride and I believe I could bring my skills from this into this role advertised.My current term time role within BFCCST consists of leading PE lessons, school clubs and holiday camp activities across a variety of different schools and settings. Having also led the delivery of FDC and GDC (Football/Girls Development Centres) with a range of different year groups I now have the knowledge and adaptability to come into any scenario and deliver. From having a variety of different sessions in different schools I have come across a range of different backgrounds of children and always ultimately look to ensure all children and young people have opportunities available to them to try and give them the best chance to succeed in what they wish to do.
