Working retail and attending college at the same time has made me realize just how important making a connection is. At the end of the day, we are just people, and people need each other to succeed. If I had not acknowledged this fact, I would not be as prepared for life as I am now. When I was a student, having a connection made all of us better learners and people. We wanted to see each other grow. These connections helped all of us graduate. And the same skill can be applied in the workforce too! The people we connect to want to see the best versions of ourselves. Our coworkers encourage us to do our best and our bosses assign bigger projects to be better developed. It is such an amazing feeling to help others when you care about who you are helping and why. Because of the connections I made, I have been able to:- Assist in managing 4 additional stores, including the flagship store- Designed a Key Performance Indicator report for managers to calculate their daily and weekly store goals- Create a tool designed to help managers and sales associates alike throughout the entire company- Help facilitate high-level corporate visits, creating more connectionsI love meeting people for the first time and making that new connection. You get to learn so many different perspectives and ideas that different people have. And that is what makes me and many more want to see each other grow.
