I am lead software engineer on a dynamic, international team, building a powerful networked application geared primarily for support technicians supporting customer sites and site owners, but is also an enterprise solution for a wide range of customer needs including software deployment, network security, and data security compliance. We currently support over 100,000 customer sites and over 10,000 users in hundreds of companies around the world.The core of the application suite is written primarily in C#, ASP.Net, with an MS SQL back end accessed via ADO.Net and SQL stored procedures. We have built a series of complex, load balanced and highly redundant datacenters for maximum uptime with real-time monitoring and controls specific to our application.I frequently utilize the perspectives of my prior positions, enabling me to be a better engineer from concept, to design, to installation. Having "worn the hats" of many of our users, I can understand their challenges and devise better solutions than an engineer who has never been "in the trenches". While on this team, I have gone from the most junior engineer to the technical lead in charge of approving all changes from configuration, design, and architectural perspectives.As lead software engineer, I frequently oversee feature analysis (coordinating with Product Management), system architecture, code review, and deployment processes. I actively participate in all phases of the process and work with our QA, "DC-Ops", and "App-Ops" teams to deploy our software in the various datacenters around the globe. I also work with software engineers in other industries within the company to build features specific to their unique needs, acting as a technical liason and architecture review resource.My duties also include building, updating, and maintaining the development and QA virtualized datacenters (using VMware vSphere), and our Team City build and test automation virtual machines.

As PMA for the Aloha POS group, I was responsible for all pre-development steps, including requirements gathering and analysis, feature specification and documentation, technical analysis and feasibility study with software engineers, and consultation during implementation. During and after the implementation, I was solely responsible for ensuring the features had been implemented as designed by performing acceptance testing. During this pre-QA phase, I was able to leverage my previous role as QA analyst for the same team, and prevented many defects from ever reaching the QA group. Of course, the sooner you catch a defect, the easier and cheaper it is to correct it, and the engineers appreciate you because less of their features get rejected by QA. I was subject matter expert on several key product areas, including credit card processing, biometric authentication (fingerprint scanners), employee scheduling, and overall data security. I worked with our product documentation team to produce several technical guides on how to securely install and maintain the POS solution in real world sites, in a PCI-DSS compliant manner. I also assisted the training group in training our customers, resellers, and installation technicians on how to secure their sites and become PCI compliant.
