I am Lecturer in French Studies in the Department of Languages and Cultures at Lancaster University. My research is broadly located at the intersections of French Studies and the Medical Humanities and explores dialogues between French philosophy, cultural production, and biomedical science in the contemporary moment. For example, I have worked on the contemporary French philosopher Catherine Malabou and her interdisciplinary concept of 'plasticity', and published research on representations of bodily plasticity and mutability across philosophy, literature and film. My current research turns to the question of the hospital, asking: how can contemporary French thought help us to reimagine the hospital and healthcare environments?Queer voices and philosophies are also central to my work, and I am exploring LGBTQIA+ healthcare and wellbeing as part of my research on the hospital and healthcare architectures. I am also creator of the Queer Medical Humanities Network at Lancaster.
