Repeatedly invited to teach a course to candidates in Georgetown’s Masters of Public Policy Program entitled, “Growth Diagnostics and Development Strategies.” Course focuses on analytical methods of determining a country’s most binding constraint to growth.

Visiting Economist, Emerging Market Economies Section, Division of International Finance – Provide analysis of key Emerging Asian economies to the Board in preparation for monthly Federal Open Market Committee meetings. Duties include forecasting key macroeconomic outcomes for select Asian economies, providing requested meeting preparation materials for use by Board members, and engaging in special topic research to deepen the Board’s understanding of the region and its economic vulnerabilities.

Deputy Director, Office of Multilateral Development Banks (MDBs) – Help manage one of the largest offices within Treasury’s Office of International Affairs (IA) charged with the lead role in U.S. fiduciary oversight of the MDBs as well as congressional outreach, interagency taskforces, and international negotiations and bilateral engagements on development issues.

International Economist, Office of Multilateral Development Banks– Simultaneously served as desk office for the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) and the World Bank/IDA. Played a key role in negotiating the terms of the largest capital increase in the history of the IDB as well as devising the reform agenda for IDA’s sixteenth replenishment. Participated in development of the President’s Policy Directive on Global Development. Regularly contributed to development of both multilateral (G8/G20) and USG interagency development initiatives.

Senior Staff Economist, International Finance and Development – Served as the senior economist at the CEA on international financial issues during the onset of the global financial crisis. Worked closely with Treasury, the New York Federal Reserve Bank, the Bank for International Settlements, the OECD secretariat, and the Federal Reserve Board of Governors to rapidly identify outbreaks in international financial patterns and to propose actions to the Chair of the Council in response. Prepared bulletins and memos for the President.

International Economist, Office of the Middle East and North Africa – Served as economist on issues ranging from the impact of global imbalances on the U.S. economy to economic analysis of MENA economies, including Lebanon, Egypt, and Turkey.

Lead Economist, Department of Accountability – Worked effectively in multidisciplinary teams to solve problems related to compact development and led economic evaluation team (including monitoring and evaluation officers) for Tanzania, Burkina Faso and Malawi. Directly negotiated compact elements and evaluation design with foreign governments.

Associate Professor (2002-present, tenure 2002), Assistant Professor (1996-2001) – Courses developed and taught include International Trade & Finance, Economics of Asia, Economic Development: Micro, Economic Development: Macro, Macroeconomics, and Asset Markets: Stocks, Bonds, and Housing.

Resident Macroeconomic Advisor – Led monetary and macroeconomic research and analysis for the Harvard Institute of International Development (HIID) resident project at the Indonesian Ministry of Finance with a focus on the budgetary implications of the banking crisis and its effect on monetary and macroeconomic policy. Regularly briefed and made recommendations to senior officials in the Indonesian Ministry of Finance.
