Over the course of the summer I gained valuable insight into the creation process of a new endoscopic medical device and the skills and techniques required to get an idea from a concept all the way to a physcian's hands. This experience provided myself with a first-hand view of how vital a daily and healthy relationship is between researchers, engineers, production employees, and physicians. My main responsibilities for the summer were to work on the optimization of design outputs and manufacturing equipment used within the production line of a soon to be released endoscopy product where I gained extensive knowledge of both Creo and Minitab software programs that I had not previously had experience using. During this research opportunity I had the opportunity to have designed, constructed, and analyzed a large-scale mechanical model of the lymphatic system to gain further insights into its role in cancer treatment.
