As a founding member of the Shared Services team, I had the exciting opportunity to supervise and motivate our talented group while diving into platform engineering, where we developed custom starter templates with the Micronaut Java framework, Kafka, Helm, Argo and Terraform. I led adoption of Auth0 integration for both internal and external applications, including the migration of legacy application identities and provisioning using TypeScript, Node.js, and Terraform. One of our team's main projects was rebuilding our order management system to support up to 100x growth, where I provided outsized contributions to the design. This included building core data management services based on the templates we had created, developing the UI with React, and orchestrating business processes with Camunda BPMN. Additionally, I implemented Azure API Management and integrated details from LabVantage LIMS with order data for our Analytics Pipeline.Key Accomplishments:» Engineered a robust abstraction layer over ElasticSearch, unifying document indexing and search with ORM-like view definitions, resulting in enhanced data accessibility.» Architected and rolled out a framework library that aligned the data flow for bioinformatics modules, facilitating the successful launch of four key modules for a major clinical trial.» Created and executed Auth0-based Authentication & Authorization, seamlessly linking AD groups with resource-level access control, significantly bolstering system security.» Diagnosed and rectified login latency issues in the legacy order management system, decreasing typical user login time from 10-20 seconds to under 1 second.» Spearheaded adoption of Infrastructure-as-Code practices using Helm and Terraform, accelerating Azure microservice deployments by up to two weeks.» Provided critical 16x7 on-call support for production software, effectively resolving issues in data-processing pipelines and guaranteeing operational continuity.

In this position, I contributed to a delayed centralized control and monitoring for traffic signal project, tackling some major issues with scalability and stability. I set up and streamlined Change Data Capture (CDC) pipelines to ensure that timestamped configuration changes synced up perfectly with real-time data from the field. I augmented system observability with advanced telemetry capture and aggregation within the service cluster, enabling insights to drive system performance improvements. Along the way I implemented new functionality modules, incorporating them into the Bazel build and deploying using Helm on Azure Kubernetes.» Overcame critical scalability and reliability challenges, leveraging TypeScript, React, Node.js, GraphQL, and PostgreSQL.» Embedded configuration changes into real-time analytics pipelines, using Java, Debezium, Kafka, and Flink, accelerating project progress despite initial setbacks.» Identified and resolved a critical design flaw, significantly reducing cluster memory requirements and component service startup times from minutes to seconds.
