I am a current Masters of International Relations Student at the ANU. I have a core interest in International Policy relating to emigration, climate change, social justice and human rights. My background previous to my masters was in Media and Communication where I studied to become a journalist. During my undergrad I was afforded the opportunity to intern at an International NGO based in New York. I was engaged directly during this time with interviewing Internationally displaced people living in refugee camps around the world about their past experiences and wishes for their futures. This internship exposed me to the complicated networks and relationships that are the basis for international collaboration to combat global inequalities and right unjust wrongs around the world. The experience helped me focus my future learning towards understanding the ways in which INGOs can help direct focus where attention is needed. Outside of my formal education and expertise, I am an experienced barista, bartender and overall hospitality worker. I love the industry as it positions me in direct contact with many diverse and interesting people and connects me to the community. I believe that because of my nearly 10 years of hospitality work I am a more thoughtful, caring, inquisitive and capable problem solver, listener and person. Plus, I now have a good knack for finding the best food in town.
