Ben started his career as a professional engineer in 2009 working as an undergraduate engineer. He completed his Bachelor of Civil Engineering at The University of Newcastle in 2010 graduating with 1st Class Honours. Following completion of his studies, Ben worked as a consulting engineer for six years. During this time, Ben developed his technical skills as a civil engineer, contributing to projects scaling from residential subdivisions to large infrastructure projects. Working as a consulting engineer Ben acted as the developer’s project manager, leading a team from project inception through the phases of project feasibility, development approval, concept and detailed design, construction documentation and contract superintendency. From this experience, Ben obtained a strong understanding of the entire development process, from inception, project planning, development approval, design and construction documentation, construction supervision and contract superintendency.During his experience as a consulting engineer, Ben developed a strong interest in the construction phase of projects and in 2016 decided to pursue this interest taking on the role of project engineer for a well known Central Coast based civil contractor. Ben was able to transfer his technical skills obtained as a consulting engineer to construction projects, enabling him to progress rapidly through the construction ranks and become appointed as a construction project manager in 2019. Working as a construction contractor Ben furthered his technical skills, developing a deep understanding of project budgets, construction program, workplace health and safety, quality assurance and team leadership. During his time as a construction project manager, Ben delivered numerous projects successfully, building a strong workplace culture focused on success as a team and delivery of high-quality work.After gaining a wealth of engineering experience in both consulting and construction, Ben decided 2022 was the year to launch his own company Everitt Consulting Engineers as the sole director and principal engineer. Ben’s vision for the company is to provide high quality professional services tailored to the clients needs. Drawing on over 13 years’ experience in both consulting and contracting, Ben can offer a unique consulting service based on real industry experience. This industry experience enables him to manage and design projects guided by in depth knowledge of real construction costs, ultimately allowing him to realise significant development cost savings for his clients during construction.
