About Benjamin Evett

Ben recently founded Queen Mab, Inc., a Micro Theatre. Queen Mab brings Shakespeare and other great dramas to the people who need it – students, seniors, and underserved community organizations – in stunningly small productions with one, two, or three actors. Our shows celebrate language, simplicity, and the transformational power of the actor. Sometimes Smaller is Better.Ben also received a second Live Arts Boston grant from the Boston Foundation to produce "The Juke: A Blues Bacchae" - a new musical by poet/performer Regie Gibson. The production will take place in October, 2019.In February 2014, Ben helped revive The Poets' Theatre. Under Ben's leadership, the company produced a number of highly praised events, including a sold-out performance of Under Milk Wood at Sanders Theater starring Cherry Jones, the solo show Albatross, which won two Elliot Norton Awards in 2915, and a residency at the Multicultural Arts Center in Belfast, Northern Ireland. Ben left the company in June to pursue other interests.Ben has been a successful actor, director, and theater entrepreneur in Boston and on the national scene since 1989. He has performed all over the world with organizations like the San Jose Rep, The Arizona Theatre Company, the Missouri Repertory Theater, the Alley Theatre, the Virginia Stage Company, and the American Repertory Theatre, where he was a member of the resident acting company from 1993 to 2003.In 2004, Ben founded the Actors' Shakespeare Project, which quickly grew into a mainstay of the Boston theater scene. He is now a freelance actor and director, frequently seen on the stage of the New Repertory Theatre. In the fall of 2010, Ben founded Honest Ghost Productions, LLC, to produce his innovative new theatrical project "Blood Rose Rising", a live serial ghost story.Specialties: Acting, Directing, Teaching, theatrical production, theatrical fundraising, production budgets, new plays, Shakespeare
