About Benjamin Fox
Since December 2023, I have worked the at the Ministry for Housing, Communities and Local Government on Planning Capacity and Capability. From March 2021 to December 2023, I worked for the Department for Education as a Policy Advisor first on diversity in the teaching workforce and then on flexible working policy. From October 2019 to March 2021, I worked for the Rt Hon Sir Geoffrey Cox QC MP in his constituency office as his Senior Executive Officer. This role entailed assisting with casework, writing media columns and performing other duties as required such as policy research. Previously I worked in the House of Commons as a Support Officer and then as Communications Officer to Kemi Badenoch MP for 18 months. My latter role involved helping the Member in dealing with the press. This included writing press releases, writing articles, drafting responses and arranging interviews. In addition, I managed the Member's social media and monitor the local press. In addition to this, since 2016 I have been working for a local newspaper in Devon called The Moorlander. I started off as a Junior Reporter, before becoming Sports Editor, Assistant Editor and, my current role, Deputy Editor. The paper is fairly new, having be started in 2016, but now has a print-run of 7000 copies across South and West Devon. My role largely focuses around sourcing and writing stories. It is vital that I form a variety of contacts and good relationships with local MPs and Councillors, businesses, sports clubs and a number of other types of organisations. I also have a Masters of Research degree in Economic and Social History from the University of Exeter and a First Class Honours BA (Hons) History degree from the University of Plymouth. This has led me to creating my own History podcast called 'Historical Oracle' which you can find on SoundCloud and iTunes. My fundamental strength is writing. Whether it be academic, journalism or basic correspondence, I believe that being able to harness the English language is my greatest strength.
