Running a small team responsible for the Embedded Systems Test and Release infrastructure. My team took over responsibility for the testing and reporting framework, automated release process, data ingest, and dashboards. The goal of this team was to unify the workflow and tooling across hardware bench, embedded systems, data collection, and vehicle integration workstreams.

Started a team inside Vehicle Integration focused on the MY26 Origin Gen7 platform. Grew the team up to 4 direct reports with a focus on early integration work to help bring up of individual components, data collection, system benches, and ultimately the full vehicle. Our team focused on pulling in timelines and avoiding integration misses by bringing up fully functional working systems before hardware designs were finalized. We worked cross-functionally to create a bench on wheels system that allow end-to-end data collection, ingestion, tuning, training, and validation compatible with the larger software ecosystem. We transferred this knowledge to expedite the bring up of the first full system benches. Finally, we worked with GM to debug and verify early vehicle builds resulting the first MY26 Origin being delivered directly to my team. Two weeks later the Origin program was canceled.

Lead development of embedded, robotic, and middleware software. One of the first robotic companies tackling remote operation from outside the hospital. Worked to develop a robotic framework for a multi-application system in in Python, C++, and TypeScript. Pioneering the use of the Python language in a safety critical medical device. Designed and implemented a complete robotic solution from a collection of micro-controllers, up through python middleware applications, then through a custom WebRTC interface to a user facing application. Also included solutions for system configuration, log upload, data ETL into a data base, and web applications to interact with robotic data.Patent Disclosure for a Heartbeat and Confirmation System to Monitor Network Latency: System based on work by Morton and Mathis on monitoring bandwidth through a public network. Able to reliably calculate round trip times on a statistically significant number of packets in an appropriately windowed period of time. Allowed the detection of slow network connections and limiting of functionality to ultimately stopping operation as the network degraded, but before timeouts were surpassed.

Started the Tools and Infrastructure Team to support all non-product software.Responsible for: - Python scripting interface to the robot for hardware testing. - Robot side implementation of data upload to cloud infrastructure. - Drive feature development and adoption of the cloud infrastructure. Worked to help unify the company on a single cloud solution across Ethicon after numerous acquisitions. - Lead development of test running application for uniform testing and upload across Ethicon. - Lead development with multi-site team to develop testing framework and data upload infrastructure to unify Ethicon testing on cloud infrastructure. - Lead development on Field Service tools for performing field upgrades and service calls. - Worked to define robot side events for use in cloud applications. - Grew the team from sole contributor to a team of six both threw hiring and internal recruitment. - Help to take a leading role in the integration of two of the largest acquisitions in medical device history into a 130 year company. Help to define and create a culture across Ethicon for software development with an agile methodology and rigorous software controls.

One of the founding members of the laparoscopic team. Worked on the software for the end to end bring up of a custom robotic arm. Worked on prototyping new ideas. Designed and promoted the use of a python API to allow rapid prototyping and testing.

Started as part of a three person software team working an endoscopic robot for biopsy of nodules in the lung. Built up the core infrastructure for logging, fault handling, configuration, and multi-application communication in a safety critical medical device.

Currently Working to build a holistic system to transfer data from embedded solar trackers in the field to a Pyjamas based website. Google Maps API and HTML 5 canvas are used to presentdata to the user.

­ Developed a web server to display pages from an embedded 8-bit solar tracker. ­ Developed code for a high voltage regulator for use in agriculture. ­ Brought up a 32-bit micro-controller. ­ Debugged H-bridge circuit with intermittent failure.
