- Instructed over 40 wilderness courses, ranging from four to 21 days in length, with technical components including backpacking, rock climbing, white water paddling, navigation, camp-craft and Leave-No-Trace ethics, and curriculum focusing on leadership, issues of diversity, self-reliance, personal growth, and conflict resolution. - Twice proctored the 72-day International Leadership Semester, for which students receive college credit. Proctorship included creating and implementing all aspects of course design and re-design once in the field; instructing and teaching in the alpine and glacier environments of Northern Patagonia, the marine environments of South Florida, and the North Carolina Mountains; writing comprehensive evaluations of students; and writing student assessments for college credit. - Participated in technical search and rescue efforts, often in conjunction with local first response agencies.
