In this role, I assisted in the development of a simulation model for external ventricular drainage surgery. I used CAD to create a cranial model and a stand for webcams. The cameras record and upload video to an artificial intelligence network, enabling trainees to receive live feedback on their technique. Additionally, I worked with a polymer hydrogel to create a brain model that will be placed inside the 3D-printed cranium to create an anatomic model.

Additionally, I learned about the software lifecycle process, medical device regulation, and the principles of developing a test case through requirement analysis. I worked in a small team consisting of two software test engineers and myself. I aided in informal software testing, assisted with bug investigations, revised test cases, and participated in formal technical reviews to approve test case revisions. I spent four weeks building a Python Flask app that functions as a user interface for the test cases. This project allowed me to enhance my Python programming skills and gain knowledge on how to create a Python Flask app.
