The mission of Miller Center for Social Entrepreneurship accelerates entrepreneurship to end global poverty and protect the planet.The Global Social Benefit Fellowship provides a comprehensive program of mentored, field-based study and action research for undergraduates within the Global Social Benefit Institute (GSBI®) worldwide network of social entrepreneurs. The Fellowship combines a fully funded 6-8 week summer field experience in the developing world with two quarters of academically rigorous research.

As a member of the Strategy & Prioritization Strike Team, I worked with WWF's development team to facilitate clear lines of communication between conservation teams, created project management dashboards via Airtable for various conservation initiatives, conducted zoonotic research to identify global public health influencers, and engaged in dialogues with conservation teams regarding the functions of project management tools and resources.

Research Activities:Keeping Cycle Connect’s mission of increasing the incomes of farmers in Northern Uganda in mind, our research team conducted research that looked to improve Cycle Connect’s training processes. To collect our data, our team created a survey that Cycle Connect's employees completed. The data we received from the survey included a mix of quantitative and qualitative responses regarding Cycle Connect’s training practices. Our team also collected data through mock asset training sessions with Cycle Connect’s loan/credit officers and marketing officers. Through our investigations, our team identified areas of opportunity within the organization’s current training processes. Key Findings:Cycle Connect needs an updated training curriculum to better meet its mission of helping its clients transform the information they gain through training sessions into sustainable economic growth. With a training curriculum that prioritizes meaningful content and included learning activities that promote a deeper understanding, Cycle Connect would have a greater impact on their clients. Furthermore, a more concise training curriculum would allow Cycle Connect’s loan and marketing officers to engage more with clients.Deliverable:Training Workbook- Our team will develop two training workbooks: one for the bicycle asset and a second for the oxen and plough asset. These workbooks will include the significant content for each module, prompting questions, review activities, and built-in checkpoints and serve as training session guides for loan/credit and marketing officers. Furthermore, many of Cycle Connect’s training officers expressed a desire for content review sessions to keep the information fresh in their minds; these workbooks will fulfill that desire as each loan officer will have access to their own copy of each workbook and can review the content whenever necessary.
