Apollo is an established start-up providing tools for advertising spend optimisation.Working in an Agile Scrum framework, I developed data analysis tools and interfaces for our customers. This involved adding to and adapting an existing codebase on a Django back-end and VueJS font-end, interacting with Postgres and MongoDB databases.My role entailed:> new feature development – user interfaces, API endpoints, model changes, database migrations, data analysis scripts and more.> testing and reviewing changes from my colleagues.> researching new approaches to solve our users’ pain points – such as researching and developing proof of concept ML models.> enhancing the security of the website and API authorisation systems.> supervising a BSc dissertation student whom we were aiding in research.> responding to bug reports, bug fixes and maintenance.> self management regarding task prioritisation and time usage in direct consultation with the director

Summer work, entailing full duties of the Software Engineer role.Several tools I developed during these periods were fully adopted and deployed. These remain currently in use by clients in the manufacturing industry, who use them to optimize their PPC Advertising spend on Amazon.

I was recommended for summer work as a full-stack developer. I worked as part of a small, self-managed team consisting of just 2 other developers, all of us reporting directly to the company directors.I also jointly created the company’s structure for communications amongst the entirely remote-working team. We found Discord to be the most reliable and flexible tool to allow seamless switching between voice calls, which we labelled “the bullpen”, “conference room”, “breakroom”, etc. to represent an office and to facilitate unambiguous protocols. It also allowed for automated deployment server status alerts and GitHub Pull Request notifications.

My role was to setup and operate professional technical equipment in a COVID-secure events venue, acting as a venue technician and training and supervising less experienced student technicians. I delivered safety briefings and equipment usage tutorial sessions.
