About Benjamin Hall

Research group leader and computational biologist with experience in physics, chemistry, computer science and biology.I am presently a Royal Society University Research Fellow working at the department of medical physics and biomedical engineering. My group works on understanding the decision making processes of cancer. We use computational models how healthy cells respond to their environment, and how this goes wrong in the early and later stages of cancer development. Expertise in software engineering in F# and python, and in the development of HPC/Grid applications. Experience in developmental systems biology and molecular modelling. Prior to this I worked at the MRC Cancer Unit at the University of Cambridge. Additionally I have worked at Microsoft Research Cambridge, doing research on the application of formal methods in biology. Some of this work has since been made available under an open source license https://github.com/microsoft/biomodelanalyzerI was previously the Apple Laureate at the University of Oxford (archived http://web.archive.org/web/20090423101329/https://www.apple.com/uk/education/arts/oxford/), and some of my work has been featured on the BBC news website (http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/science-environment-26213522)
