About Benjamin Han
Ben is responsible for relationship management for the private equity/fund financing at East West Bank. With nearly 15 years of experience working exclusively with investment managers and funds, Ben has been structuring and originating transactions with clients including managers in private equity, alternative investment, hedge funds, mutual funds and fund of funds. Transactions including subscription secured/capital call facilities for private equity funds, NAV facilities for fund of PE funds, fund of hedge funds, mutual funds, closed-end funds, UCITS, institutional SMAs as well as hybrid facilities, GP/management company lines, and other asset-backed, specialized/bespoke financing.Prior to his current role, Ben was with MUFG and was the leader of deal team at Mitsubishi UFJ Trust Bank’s fund finance team, where he initiated and helped build the fund finance business. In addition to spearheading the deal team, and working with clients & counsels to structure transactions, he also created the Branch’s fund finance underwriting guideline and risk policies, as well as the Branch’s fund surveillance framework & stress testing models and maintained them in line with industry best practice. He was also instrumental in building monitoring and covenant tracking tools, with oversight of aggregate exposure across deals. Prior to MUFG, he was with National Australia Bank, New York, in the Global Institutional Banking Group, where he worked with relationship directors covering funds and asset management clients, and was responsible for transaction due diligence, credit/document review, negotiation, underwriting and execution.
