Founded as the AIDS Legal Council of Chicago in 1987 in response to the unique and urgent legal needs of people diagnosed with HIV, the agency broadened its focus beyond single-disease advocacy and changed its name to Legal Council for Health Justice in 2014. As Community Organizer I am responsible for engaging community stakeholders in the work of our Medical Legal Partnership on Chicago's far South Side and South Suburbs.
I provided general assistance and support to the homeless clientele of Matthew House. My particular focus was as a Skilled Assessor. Skilled Assessors interview homeless applicants for permanent subsidized housing. I matched dozens of Chicago's long-term homeless citizens in this capacity with safe places to live and thrive.

I founded the Ridgeland Block Club Association to rebuild friendly contact among the residents of Ridgeland Avenue in the Calumet Heights neighborhood of Chicago. Beginning as a traditional block club on the 8900 block of Ridgeland, we soon expanded to include neighbors on the 8700, 8800, and 9000 block of Ridgeland. For several years the Ridgeland Block Club Association hosted a multi-block block party dubbed the Ridgeland Homecoming which brought back old residents to socialize with current neighbors. This event was named one of the best events of Summer by South Side Weekly.
