Led the SRE (site reliability engineer) organization to unify and simplify deployment tools. The company had 3 different products with components being deployed in 7 different ways. My first objective was to provide a unified, cloud-native means of deploying to the cloud in a simpler way, paving the way for CI/CD deployments. Subsequently, we integrated static analysis checks, vulnerability tool checks and OSS upgrades, centralized logging, basic monitors, and test automation into deployment pipelines.Accomplishments include* Doubled team * Upgraded build infrastructure to Drone-based pipelines* Created tools to enable apps to move to dockerized, kubernetes-managed one-touch deploys* Reduced deployment times from days to minutes* Increased deployment frequency from weeks to hours* Deployed EFK (Elastic, fluentd, kibana) logging infrastructure in kubernetes env* Deployed prometheus monitoring platform (kubernetes)* Created CLI interface to templatize (via helm) app deployments, making deploying a new app a task that takes a matter of minutes* Security-focused: integrate Snyk, build CIS-compliant AMIs, operationalize platform upgrades on monthly basis* Cost-focused: create kubecost metrics and consolidated reports to inform teams of their spend. Implement cloud waste reduction tools.I was responsible for Quality at Agari in addition to SRE to ensure that automated tests were built into our deployment methodology. My responsibilities included:* Hiring (hired 4 in addition to 2 existing members)* Automation strategy: moved from rainforest + robot to pytest-based automation framework; added Locust-derived performance test framework* Integration of key quality metrics into release process* Implementing TDD and Definition of Done * QA vision/strategyFinally, I managed all R&D costs/forecast for the organization. Provided monthly reports, worked with vendors and engineering, reducing waste and saving $1.5M in 2019, $3.5M in 2020.

At this small company I fulfilled multiple roles: I led the build/deployment team, the quality team, led a UI dev team, and provided cloud cost management for all of engineering.As the manager of release engineering I led the transition to a pipeline deployment model, integrating tests in a CI/CD model via gerrit integration with git, doing initial kubernetes deplopyments (k8s was rapidly evolving at this point) that allowed for multiple Jenkins workers to build and deploy software faster. Additionally, I worked with the development teams to create deployment runbooks and integrated secure deployment practices to reduce rollbacks/deployment failures to almost zero. As Quality Assurance Manager, I grew the Quality team to focus on usability and system testing of the product offering. We utilized an automation framework to provide automated regression tests. These tests were then integrated into the CI/CD framework. I hired for appropriate skillsets to build team expertise for computing security in the cloud.As Manager of Performance & COGS I was responsible for gathering and analyzing performance metrics of the product, working with the finance team to understand associated costs and areas of risk and reduced margin in our product offering, then identifying and advocating for next areas of improvement that increase our product margins most reliably. Required in-depth knowledge of AWS and GCP billing and resource management tools.I also worked as Dev Manager for the UI/UX team, and provided cross-functional project management for a variety of projects that included UI development, performance improvement, cost management tools, and product feature development.
