I am Ben Himmel, a Computer Engineering student at Milwaukee School of Engineering (MSOE), where I am pursuing my Bachelor of Science degree. Additionally, I am seeking a minor in Electrical Engineering so that I will have very well-developed hardware skills. I am also pursuing a minor in Business Management, which is greatly improving my leadership, teamwork, and communication skills. My goal is to become an engineer who can design and develop embedded systems, new electronics, and innovative products that solve real-world problems.I have gained hands-on experience in electronics shipping and receiving, electrical components assembly, materials handling, and electronics testing as an intern at 4B Components Limited, a leading manufacturer of sensors and controls for industrial applications. I enhanced my understanding of rotary switches, temperature sensors, and motion/proximity switches and contributed to product development by building demo systems for industry events.Additionally, during my internship at Astronautics Corporation of America (ACA), I worked on two major projects. I developed a TVS Diode PDF Data Miner in Python, utilizing OCR to extract data from PDFs and compile it into a single Excel file for analysis. I also created an LED Backlight Calibration Tool, building a Python GUI to interface with a new photometer model, significantly improving the calibration process for trainer jet displays. This experience allowed me to further strengthen my skills in Python programming, embedded systems, and software documentation.I am passionate about solving problems and puzzles with logic and reasoning, and I enjoy working with both software and hardware. I am eager to learn more and apply my knowledge and skills in the engineering field.
