The project involved the partial decommissioning of the platform, installation of solar panels, new navigational aids, and walk-to-work access points. These include the Godwin over Arbroath, the Arbroath Chemical Injection Rationalisation, the Arkwright Riser Topsides, the Arkwright Separator & Test Separator Metering, the Montrose Separator metering and the Arbroath Production Separator metering projects.I was responsible for day to day planning of work for the process engineering team, resource allocation, progress reporting, approval of work and liaising with the client with respect to process and project engineering issues arising across the six projects.

Golden Eagle Area Development ProjectThe Golden Eagle project is a bridge linked two fixed platform development in the UK sector of the North Sea designed to process 70,000 BPD oil and inject 130,000 BPD water.As project engineer I was responsible for day to day dealing with technical issues that arose on the Production, Utilities and Quarters Platform and delegated work scopes to the various disciplines to ensure that timely and cost sensitive solutions were found.I was the project engineer managing the interface between the Living Quarters contractor and the Topsides contractor.I was the project engineer managing the interface between the Subsea contractor and the Topsides contractor.

Buzzard Enhancement Project - Start Up Engineer, Buzzard Platform.The Buzzard Enhancement Project added a fourth Production Sweetening (PS) platform to the existing three platforms at the Buzzard installation. The prime feature is the crude oil stripper which removes sour gas elements from the oil stream to meet the Forties pipeline entry specification. The process is controlled in a tight envelope by an extensive risk model that ensures that sour oil cannot be exported in error.I was responsible for the overall management of start up programme. The activities included the day to day reporting of progress, planning and allocation of activities for the start up team including vendors and seconded members of the Buzzard core crew.I was also responsible for the running of the nitrogen / helium leak testing programme, controller tuning and training of the operators.Updating All operating Guides for Buzzard Installation to reflect new mode of operations

Golden Eagle Area Development Project - Senior Process / Project Engineer, London.I conducted studies on reservoir scale management, gas dew-pointing, acid gas treatment and injection for the Golden Eagle Area Development. The purpose of each study was to assess the available technologies and propose the most appropriate solution for the project.The scale management study focused on Scale Squeeze and Sulphate Removal technologies, looking at the cost benefits of each solution. It also considered the chemistry of the reservoir, the type of water injection, whether it was matrix or fractured and the pressures required. The study also looked at the various methods of scale squeezing using dive vessels, wet trees and or dry tress as well as combinations of the three. A final option considered a new pipeline from the nearby Nexen operated Buzzard platform.The gas dew-pointing study was a more conventional assessment of available technologies looking at turbo expansion, refrigeration and the use of a JT valve and an extra stage of compression.The acid gas treatment study compared H2S scavenger chemical injection against amine based acid gas removal, the study also considered the possibility of acid gas reinjection as part of produced water reinjection.

Buzzard Enhancement ProjectI developed the Production Sweetening (PS) platform leak testing programme.I prepared detailed start up procedures for the PS platform, specifically the Stripping Gas System, the Variable Speed Drive Booster Compressors and the Stripping Gas Circuit. I was the responsible engineer in the subsequent start up procedures HAZOP.I coordinated the as building program of the PS platform.I prepared and conducted a 2 day operator training program on a dedicated dynamic simulation of the Buzzard platform incorporating the new PS facilities.

I managed the Buzzard platform produced water treatment commissioning and sand handling program.I was part of the team responsible for the month long 2009 Buzzard summer shutdown. The shutdown was completed successfully and on time. I prepared the procedure for hydrocarbon ‘freeing’ the Buzzard platform and was responsible for the platform restart following the 2009 summer shutdown.

Buzzard Field Development Project for Nexen Petroleum U.K. Limited - Start Up Engineer.I was accountable for the day-to-day management of start up programme – My main responsibilities were for the start up and commissioning of the seawater lift, heating medium, cooling medium, seawater treatment (including deaeration), water injection, oil production, separation and export systems, and start up of gas compression and treatment, including amine-based acid gas removal systems.I also carried out process optimisation, tuning of controllers and debottlenecking.I provided process engineering input to nitrogen / helium leak testing programme.

ProjectsBuzzard Field Development Project for Nexen Petroleum U.K. Limited – 200,000 BPD oil, 60 MMSCFD gas and 300,000BPD water, North Sea UK sector.Reshadat – 80,000 BPD oil and inject 20,000 BPD water, offshore Iran for IOOC.Salman Oil and Gas Field Integrated Development Project – 500,000 MMscfd gas recovery, it is a processing, gas lift and export facility located at existing Salman field oil platform, offshore Iran for PEDCO.Working as a Process Engineer in London I established project scopes (Basis of Design), constructed simulations of processes using Hysys & Pro II, produced and checked process deliverables (PFDs / H&MB / P&IDs / Datasheets / etc) and supporting calculations.I participated in HAZOPs and design review meetings as the secretary and as a responsible engineer. I also produced commissioning deliverables and conducted manpower reporting and resource allocation.
