• Designed and implemented a Quarkus microservice that transferred data from an IBM mainframe into a new Oracle database. The old data (100TB) was put into a Kafka pipeline where the key/payload of each message was used to call one of 20 API endpoints to persist the properly cleaned data to the new DB. The original proof of concept suggested a rate of about 20k messages processed per hour, and business needs were aimed at 50k/hour. Redesigning and refactoring the program to be asynchronous saw an increase of 40% to 72k/hour.• The microservice was containerized with Docker to encapsulate the service and resulted in a speed-up in time-to-deployment of 20%, as well as make it easier to scale horizontally if need be.• Utilized Jenkins for CI/CD to manage and automate the deployment of the microservice, ensuring that any updates or testing that needed to be done would work smoothly.• Integrated Splunk for real-time log analysis and monitoring, providing insights and alerts to maintain high data accuracy and system reliability. Tracking performance metrics and detect anomalies, ensured that the data processing pipeline met the business requirement of over 95% accuracy in records.

• Engineered a robust JUnit testing suite to ensure the seamless deployment and functionality of an employee access management application.
