Here, I'd simply like to highlight one of my favorite professional achievements/experiences: CBYX.The Congress-Bundestag Youth Exchange for Young Professionals (CBYX) is a yearlong cultural exchange program sponsored by the U.S. Congress and Germany's Bundestag. For this program, 75 Germans and 75 Americans between the ages of 18 and 25 (as of the 35th year of the program in 2018-2019) are selected to participate. The American participants are sent to Germany where they attend 2 months of language school classes, followed by 3 months of classes at a college or university (typically) and a 5-month internship period.I took language classes in Cologne where I acquired B2 level proficiency in German. Next, I attended classes as a guest student at the Georg August University of Göttingen. Then, I undertook internships at the European Neuroscience Institute and the Max-Planck Institute for Biophysical Chemistry. While in Göttingen, I also stayed with a host family for 10 months. Through this program, I not only gained a breadth of experience in culture and a depth of understanding in language, but I also acquired an appreciation for the vastness of the world and created invaluable lifelong friendships. It was truly a wonderful experience, and I can't wait to take the trip once again.
