I am the Director; Central Technological Laboratory and Workshops (CTLW) - A Training, Research, Production and Maintenance Unit in the University. The Unit has three sections, namely; Teaching and Research (TRS), Office Equipment Maintenanace (OEMS) and Product Development (PDS) Sections.The stated objectives of the Unit are in the main, to provide an engineering production environment in a University setting where training can be given, where design concepts can be actualized to prototypes; prototypes into functioning machines and where small scale industries can get the assistance they need with the supply of equipment and advice on engineering and production. We are currently upgrading and repositioning the CTLW to the level of a centre of excellence in machine development, design, production and equipment maintenance required of a standard S & T Park, while also achieving our mandate of producing better educated and skilled engineering graduates being demanded for by the rapidly changing and competitive labour market
