In charge of team to assist advanced product development engineers developing new technologies into commercialized goods. Responsible for offsite development facility with injection molding, extrusion, thermoforming, thin film deposition, coating and other specialized equipment. Currently developing revolutionary lens technology for the Military and Consumer market to be released in 2015. In charge of new initiative to develop and implement process development procedures for the entire R&D team at Oakley. This includes road maps, timelines, process development maps, document templates and other methods to help align and improve cross team process development. Work with business unit managers to help determine when new technologies will be ready for launch and what new technologies might benefit their business unit. Develop yearly budgets and action plans for team. Developed scientific field testing methods to help determine new technologies performance in real world applications. Report to Director of Optics.

Responsible for research and development of new military lens technologies. Developed military road map for lens technologies based on resources and sales and military team project requests. Developed large size photochromic lenses and fast photochromic lenses. Developed breaching shield technology for special forces using new materials and casting techniques to meet there needs, largest lens Oakley has ever manufactured. Developed and industrialized front and backside flow coating technology on military lenses to met military transmission and impact requirements. Researched and developed method to apply coating to laser lens without reducing performance requirements. Developed process development procedures for the optics team. Reported to Director of Optics.

Responsible for performing pre-production qualification testing and development on new eyewear products. Provide testing support to advance product development engineers and other internal customers to the laboratory. Develop testing standards, quality documents, test methods, laboratory procedures and other documentation to improve workflow and gain laboratory ISO 17025 accreditation. Traveled to China to perform an assessment of Oakley’s performance laboratory compared to three product supplier laboratories and determine if they are able to meet Oakley’s standards. Develop, write and update all of Oakley’s product performance specifications to ensure their products domination in the market. Train test technicians and test engineers weekly for continuous improvement of laboratory operations. Reported to Performance Laboratory Manager.

In charge of the daily operation of product testing laboratory, and its employees. Develop and plan objectives and overall direction of ETC, with the President. Develop budgets, operational plans, and equipment, to improve the quality and timeliness of testing services. Determine staffing requirements to meet the current and future projected workloads. In charge of quality program, developed and implemented the ISO 17025 quality program throughout the entire company, allowing them to be IAS / ISO 17025 accredited. Wrote the quality manual and many quality and management related documents. Reported to President.

Responsible for the Thermal, Materials, Insulated Glass and Safety Glass Testing Departments, responsible for the test technicians, project scheduling, test development, and every day departmental tasks. Perform testing on a wide variety of products per ASTM, NFRC, AAMA and other testing standards. Develop testing standards, equipment, and procedures according to test practices and customers requests. Assist in R&D project development and implementation. Develop test equipment and designing test laboratory layouts. Lead project to move Ohio based operation to Rochester, NY. Work with contractors to develop test equipment and infrastructure to make and improve laboratory function. Expanded existing Ohio operation from 20 set capacity to 60 set capacity. Improving report format and reduced project process times. Reported to Director of Testing Services.
